HEART ATTACK SYMPTOMS
Nausea, dizziness, pressure on chest and pain in the upper
back are classic symptoms of heart attack in women. Some women experience a
sharp pain in their chest, but many experience more subtle symptoms that are
often ignored. Examining of women who are recovering from a heart attack showed
that many had symptoms that have worsened in the weeks before attack, but the
problems were attributed to indigestion, fatigue and muscle tension.
Two-thirds of American women who die from a heart attack did
not reach the hospital - when they realized what was going on, it was too late.
Symptoms are not the only thing that is different between men and women when it
comes to heart disease.
Research of the National Institutes of Health in the United
States revealed that doctors predicted about 3 million cases of coronary disease
in women who had a buildup of plaque that has spread through the arteries, but
didn’t increase nor created a large
block (as it would be in men).
On angiograms (images
of blood vessels) these arteries look clean. The study also included women with
micro vascular disease, in which the small blood vessels do not dilate properly
during exercise.
And their angiograms were clean, too. Women should pay more
attention to body signs. If the patient has shortness of breath, high cholesterol
or other alarming symptoms, they should insist on additional analyzes.
If there is a possibility that something is wrong, you must
determine what it is.
