Localization of colorectal cancer

  • Ascedening Colon           18%
  • Transverse Colon              9%
  • Descedending Colon         5%
  • Sigmoid Colon                25%
  • Rectum                            43%
Anatomically colon is divided into six parts. It is continuing to the end of the small intestine in the lower right part of the abdomen, as a blind ending - the cecum, then continues on an ascending colon - ascedens, then to the transverse colon - transversum, then descending colon - descedens, then comes the bent part of the intestine with the form of letter S - the sigmoid colon, and the streight intestine - the rectum, and ends with anal canal. The entire length of the colon is up to 2 meters

Symptoms of the disease depend on the localization of the tumor. Colon Cancer located on the right side often leads to unclear abdominal pain, anemia due to chronic blood loss that is not visible to the naked eye, fatigue, weight loss and clinically palpable tumor mass on the right side of the abdomen. Cancer of the colon on the left side often leads to changes in bowel patterns, shifts between constipation and diarrhea, spasmodic abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting due to the closure of intestinal lumen with tumor. Cancer of the rectum leads to changes in bowel movements and bleeding.
